Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Do I need payment details for the trial?
No. The 30-day trial starts without a credit card or direct debit, directly in Inventor via Start 30-day trial.
What happens when my trial ends?
After 30 days the Thundercad tools in Inventor simply stop working. Nothing is charged and there is nothing to cancel; you never left any payment details. Want to keep working? Buy a license via the pricing page and paste the new key into the add-in.
I am on Inventor 2024 or older, can I use Thundercad?
Not yet: Thundercad supports Autodesk Inventor 2025 and newer. If you are on an older version, email info@thundercad.net; we would love to hear which version you run so we can factor it into our planning.
Does Thundercad work with my version of Inventor?
Thundercad works with Autodesk Inventor 2025 and higher. One installer supports all supported versions.
Do I get new features automatically?
Yes. All current and future features are included in your subscription, at no extra cost. Updates become available automatically via the installer.
Can I share Thundercad with colleagues?
Yes. You buy one key per user. When you order multiple licenses you receive that many separate keys, one per colleague. Switching to a different PC is possible via Unlink CD Key in the add-in.
Does Thundercad also work without Vault?
Absolutely. All tools work fully without Vault. The Vault features (Get Drawings, Batch Publish with a Vault source) only become active once you have the Vault client installed and are logged in.
Are my settings stored online anywhere?
No, your settings are stored locally on your computer. You can export them and share them with a colleague via Settings → General → Export/Import.
Does every user get the same tools?
Yes. Thundercad comes with one fixed set of tools that is the same for everyone — both during the trial and with a paid license. There are no separate modules or tiers to toggle.
Which languages does Thundercad support?
The interface is currently available in English and Dutch. The error messages and tooltips follow that language.
Does the watermark also appear on single PDF exports?
Yes. The watermark uses one shared setting. As soon as you turn on Watermark on PDF for Batch Publish, a single PDF export also gets the same diagonal watermark with the same text. There is no separate switch for single exports: the single export follows the batch setting exactly. If you want a PDF without a watermark, turn the option off temporarily.
