Account & licenses

Create an account on the website and buy your license there. The key automatically appears in your account and is confirmed by email. Then enter the key in the Thundercad add-in in Inventor (via Settings → General) to activate it.

Each license is one key for one user. If you buy multiple licenses at checkout, you receive that many separate keys, one per colleague.

On your My licenses page you see all your keys. Send a colleague the key intended for him — he enters it in Inventor via the Thundercad add-in. After that the key is bound to his Autodesk account.

If you switch workstation or PC, use Unlink CD Key in the add-in to release the license. After that you can activate the key on another computer.

You can choose between monthly (€30 per user) and annual (€300 per user, 2 months free). Want to switch billing period or add seats? Email info@thundercad.net and we will arrange it. The subscription renews automatically; you always receive a reminder beforehand.

In your account you can cancel the subscription at any time, effective at the end of the current period. You retain access to Thundercad until the end date of that period.

ThundercadGlobal is a separate build that handles its license through the webshop on thundercad.net. You buy a license key there and enter it in the license dialog when Inventor starts. The server binds the key to your Autodesk account, not to your machine.

Trial (30 days)

• You get one free trial of 30 days per Autodesk account.
• The trial is one-time per account: requesting it again returns the same (already-used) trial, not a new period.
• If your trial has expired, the add-in keeps asking for a valid key.

Seats and release

• A key has a number of seats. Each seat is taken by the Autodesk account that validates the key.
• To work on another machine or with another account, you can release your seat. Someone else can then claim it.
• Note: a trial cannot be released, and there is a limit (quota) on the number of releases per period. If a release fails, the quota has usually been reached.

Working offline (14-day tolerance)

• If the add-in cannot reach the license server, it uses your last successful check. That stays valid for 14 days.
• Within those 14 days you keep working, provided your license itself has not expired. Once the expiry date has passed, the offline tolerance no longer helps.
• So make sure you come online at least once within two weeks to refresh the check.

A valid key unlocks the standard tools plus the parts and number generator. Customer-specific customizations stay hidden in the Global build.
