What this tool does
Every time you save, Inventor keeps a backup in a hidden OldVersions subfolder. These pile up and can take up gigabytes. Old Versions Cleaner scans your project for all these folders, shows the size per folder, and cleans them out after you confirm.
How to use it
- Start Old Versions Cleaner. The Scan folder field is already filled with the workspace of your active project; adjust it with Browse… if needed.
- Click Scan. The tool searches the folder and its subfolders for OldVersions folders and lists them with file count and size, largest first.
- Check what you want to clean up (everything is on by default). At the bottom you see how much space you'll free up.
- Click Delete selected and confirm the warning. Only the contents of the OldVersions folders are removed.
Settings
No separate settings
Old Versions Cleaner has no settings tab; you work entirely in the window.
Tips
💡
Old file versions can't be recovered after cleanup — run the tool when you're sure you no longer need the history.
💡
Files that are in use at that moment are skipped and noted in the log.
