Find Item

Find a part by item number and zoom straight to it.

Location in Inventor: Thundercad tab → Tools panel (Drawing)

What this tool does

Find Item opens a panel where you can type an item number. Thundercad automatically zooms in on the matching balloon, highlights the part and can simultaneously select that part in the source assembly.

For every item found, Find Item places a temporary label with the prefix you set in the settings (e.g. "POS").

How to use it

Open the drawing where you want to find the item number.
Click Find Item. The panel appears.
Type the item number and confirm.
Thundercad zooms in on the balloon and places a label.

Settings

Position text

The label placed next to the item found.

Label prefix

Text placed next to the position bubble. E.g. POS, Item # or your internal naming. Leave empty = no label.

Tips

💡

Also works in drawings where the balloons deviate from the Inventor defaults, as long as an item number is configured in the parts list.

Combine with Drawing Checker to first make sure all balloons are present.
